Lake George, and the Poconos

Just spent the night at Lake George in upstate NY. Really just a bunch of gift shops and arcades line the streets. I wanted to take a boat ride, but we didn't have enough time for it.

This week, I will be staying in the Poconos at the Shawnee Village Resorts (family has owned a timeshare there for more than 25 years). It's going to be a week of relaxation without computers and internet. I will be there till Saturday the 22. I will go straight to Rochester on the 22nd.

Finally, I have a trip planned for Atlantic City the last weekend of August (so far just Friday night is booked, but hopefully will book Thursday night as well).

Still on the lookout for the perfect van.

Washington D.C. for 22nd Birthday

So I went to Washington D.C. this past weekend, and must say I was somewhat disappointed. The trip started off great in Baltimore where we ate some crabs and shot off fireworks. It was all down hill from there.

We got into Washington D.C. around midnight on July 31. We stayed at the Embassy Suites Convention Center. The hotel was great, in fact probably the best part of D.C. Anyway, we quickly started looking around for a bar to start the weekend off on the right foot. We walked probably close to 20 blocks before we happened to find this "hole-in-the-wall" place. The bar was only half-stocked, but did have Blue Moon so the night wasn't completely wasted.

The next morning we did the tourist stuff by visiting the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and the White House (from extremely far away). It's not that I don't mind walking around in 95 degree weather, it was disappointing when you get to the point where "wow, this is it, I made this trip to see this?". The realization hits hard and gets worse when you realize that you are now miles away from your hotel. When we did finally get back to the hotel, we headed over to the hotel's complimentary Manager's Reception where they had an open bar (I thought I was in heaven). Unfortunately, since we got back so late, there was only a half hour left.

Saturday night started out the way I had envisioned, with a pre-game at our suite. Unfortunately since my friend's brother decided to bring his girlfriend, I had a bad feeling about the rest of the night. She said "Foggy Bottom is the place to be on a Saturday night". That was more wrong than Cramer praising Bear Stearns (don't be silly). Needless to say, the night ended terribly (all thanks to some girl I had no idea was coming).

Red Bull is a No Go

Long time since my last post. I have been very busy with work (my last day is Friday) and my last three weekends have been spent away from a computer.

Anyway, I got an e-mail back from a Red Bull representative, and unfortunately he said that since the Red Bull logo is not public, it will be impossible to do vehicle advertising. I am not disappointed at all in the decision. I knew it was a long shot to begin with. I was surprised that the response was an actual person, and not a "canned" response.

With that said, I am still awaiting a response from GoDaddy! I just recently contacted Google, since there has been stories of Google using billboards to advetrtise the Google Apps for businesses. I will keep every one informed if/when I receive any additional information from these companies.

On another note, I haven't been looking for the "perfect" vehicle lately (same reason as why there hasn't been a post recently), but do plan on going to Rochester for a week or so next week, so I can get a week free from distractions (at least during the day) while I work on a web site. While there, I will look at several top "prospects", and provide pictures and details of each right here on the blog to let you guys vote for your favorite.

I will blog later tonight regarding a recent weekend trip to Washington D.C.
