Washington D.C. for 22nd Birthday

So I went to Washington D.C. this past weekend, and must say I was somewhat disappointed. The trip started off great in Baltimore where we ate some crabs and shot off fireworks. It was all down hill from there.

We got into Washington D.C. around midnight on July 31. We stayed at the Embassy Suites Convention Center. The hotel was great, in fact probably the best part of D.C. Anyway, we quickly started looking around for a bar to start the weekend off on the right foot. We walked probably close to 20 blocks before we happened to find this "hole-in-the-wall" place. The bar was only half-stocked, but did have Blue Moon so the night wasn't completely wasted.

The next morning we did the tourist stuff by visiting the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and the White House (from extremely far away). It's not that I don't mind walking around in 95 degree weather, it was disappointing when you get to the point where "wow, this is it, I made this trip to see this?". The realization hits hard and gets worse when you realize that you are now miles away from your hotel. When we did finally get back to the hotel, we headed over to the hotel's complimentary Manager's Reception where they had an open bar (I thought I was in heaven). Unfortunately, since we got back so late, there was only a half hour left.

Saturday night started out the way I had envisioned, with a pre-game at our suite. Unfortunately since my friend's brother decided to bring his girlfriend, I had a bad feeling about the rest of the night. She said "Foggy Bottom is the place to be on a Saturday night". That was more wrong than Cramer praising Bear Stearns (don't be silly). Needless to say, the night ended terribly (all thanks to some girl I had no idea was coming).

  1. sorry :(

I found out where the awesome places are in D.C. so you should come back sometime...

Mainly you get off at Woodly Park (red line) and walk like half a mile over a bridge and then its bar heaven.

  2. Ok to be more specific it is Adams Morgan.

Taken from the wiki found here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adams_Morgan,_Washington,_D.C.

"Adams Morgan also has become a thriving spot for night life, with a number of bars and clubs featuring live music. Over 90 establishments possess liquor licenses, putting it on level with other popular nightlife areas like Georgetown and Dupont Circle. "

I should have called my friend to find out where it was.... dammit.
